It’s Week 2 of my 10” celebration and I’ve decided on a great way to start my weekly blog posts: an interview and design retrospective with the client I have been working with the longest.

Stay tuned to the blog for my interview with Tracy Dillard of Koenig & Strey Real Living, as well as samples of design projects we’ve worked on over the last 10 years.

10 years…already?

This November we will celebrate our 10th year in business. I feel fortunate and grateful to be reaching this business milestone—not to mention somewhat astonished that ten years managed to go by so fast.

To commemorate this special event, I will be featuring special blog posts and other anniversary goodies over the next few months—hey, maybe I’ll even throw a party. Stay tuned to the blog, website and twitter. We look forward to celebrating with you!

our new and improved website

After many months of sketching, designing and planning, we are delighted to announce the launch of the new-and-improved Lidia Varesco Design website!

We worked closely with Chicago-based Tasty CMS, who took our design and creative vision and translated it into an updated, user-friendly format.

Now you can view our design portfolio, read our latest blog post and small business tipsheet, or see what we’re up to in the design studio—all in one place.

We invite you to return to our website often to see featured design projects, case studies (coming soon!), and new goodies in our greeting card & stationery shop.

Once again, a big shoutout to Tasty CMS for their hard work, useful input and creative collaboration!

I am thrilled to announce that Lidia Varesco Design was featured in the March/April 2010 issue of HOW Magazine!

Our line of greeting cards & stationery is featured in a new column called Sidelines, which highlights creatives who started a side business selling products.

The inaugural column, written by HOW editor Bryn Mooth, discusses how I got started designing greeting cards and stationery and how my side business helps fuel creativity for my graphic design business and vice versa. View the article.

As a long-time reader of HOW, I’m truly honored to be included among the countless talented designers who have graced the pages of HOW Magazine over the years. A giant thank you to HOW for including me among that list!

Featured Project: Chicago Theological Seminary Look Book

CTS-Look-Book_horiz

We worked with our new client, the Chicago Theological Seminary to update their marketing materials. The goal was to convey the energy and spirit of the Seminary— as well as to create a design that could easily be used throughout the marketing campaign.

Starting with a View Book for prospective students, we created an overall look that was bold and engaging—yet flexible enough to be used in many different print formats, such as posters, banners and special event materials.

The new CTS “look” has been very well-received both by staff, as well as current and prospective students. It has also been adapted to their recently-updated website. But we’re not done yet! Stay tuned for more samples of updated CTS marketing materials.

Featured Project: Foot Comfort Product Packaging

We recently worked with our client Justin Blair & Company to develop packaging and display for a new line of foot comfort products being introduced to the retail beauty and spa market.

As this was a new product for this market, we did extensive industry research to develop the graphic identity—including a photo shoot (with VisualWorks) to assure the product images were just right. We worked closely with Justin Blair and packaging company Graph-Pak to develop a unique pillow pack that was attractive, yet practical for the end user (i.e. counter and shelf space-conscious).

Since it was launched at a spa/beauty show this summer, the new foot comfort line has generated an outstanding response, not to mention swift sales for my client.

Greening up our greetings!

recycled_symbol_grWe are pleased to announce that Greetings by Lidia Varesco Design now uses biodegradable plastic sleeves to package our cards!

While we currently use paper with some recycled content (which we “recycle” from our printer’s leftover scraps), we are moving towards using all 100% post-consumer recycled papers. We already offer a 100% recycled envelope with our Tall Notecard Sets.

Buy some of our greener cards this weekend at the Chicago Indie Collective at Oakbrook Center.
